We all experience challenges in life- times when we could benefit from care & support. Stephen Ministers can provide the emotional and spiritual care needed when we are faced with a difficulty or crisis.
A Stephen Minister is a lay person who has completed 50 hours of training in providing high quality, distinctively Christian care. It is a confidential ministry. The identity of those receiving care & everything that is discussed remains private.
A Stephen Minister is a caring Christian friend who listens, cares, prays, supports and encourages.
Stephen Ministers answer God’s calling to “Bear one another’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ” Galatians 6:2
Our Story
Zion’s Stephen Ministry began 31 years ago as a vision of Pastor James Gronbeck. Pastor Gronbeck saw the need to have extended pastoral care be available to congregational members and the Ottertail community.
Our Ministry started with 5 members who were specially trained to become Stephen Ministers & Stephen Ministry Leaders. Many of that original group still serve as a Stephen Minister.
